Lunar Eclipse

8 hour exposure; Full Moon emerging from Total Eclipse
Moab, Utah

This Lunar Eclipse occurred in September 2007.
Though the weather prediction was for partly cloudy skies, I spent the night out anyway, and conditions were perfect.  The eclipse occurred early in the morning (~4am), which meant the sun would rise before the moon would set.  Terminating the exposure around 6:30 am stopped the Moontrack in the sky, and the eclipse itself created the "comet tail" trailing out behind.

My friend Michael Wages and I played with a colored flashlight for a bit this evening.  The canyon was beautifully lit by the Full Moon before the Eclipse.  Here, I'm simply shining the light on the ground in front of me.  All the ambient light is from the Full Moon.

Watch for future projects Michael and I will be creating together.
