Sun Dollars are an experiment in Creative Exchange, and Everyone gets to Play.

At Sol Food Farms, we believe Sun Dollars will empower gardeners, growers, and producers in Moab to participate in a strong, local food network.  Both our CSA program and Farmer's Market stand will use Sun Dollars (and US Dollars).

All participants can trade their Sun Dollars for any of the products we offer.  In 2010, we will focus tremendous energy on preserving our crops as sauces, salsas, pickles, and fruit preserves.  We'll also use real Sol-Power to sun dry tomatoes, pears, and create sun-baked sauces in our prototype solar ovens.

How it works:

1.  Get Sun Dollars by joining our CSA program
Any amount is welcome; we'll pay 1 Sun Dollar to each Federal Reserve Note you pay in.  It's that simple.
We pay immediate interest on $200.00 or more.  Click for more information.

2.  Grow and Produce local food.  Trade with us, your neighbors, and friends.
Do you have a garden?  Want to have a garden?  We'd love to trade for your extra veggies or fruit.
We can offer some advice on successful growing, and we'd love to see you succeed at organic gardening.
We can always offer vast amounts of encouragement and moral support!

About Sun Dollars themselves:

Each Sun Dollar is embossed with our authentic logo, assuring authenticity.

We print and emboss Sun Dollars as CSA contributions and local food is traded-in.
In this way, the Sun Dollar will be based on the value of Federal Reserve Notes contributed
and the real value of food products grown and produced in the Moab region.

Series:

Our inaugural 2009 series is designed from artwork by Michael A. Wages and Linda Anderson.
We can't say THANK YOU enough to Michael and Linda for their tremendous work!

We hope to work with many local artists to design fun and functional currencies as our network grows and succeeds.

We'll keep close accounting on how many Sun Dollars are produced and placed in service.

Fine Print:  Investing in agriculture is risky.  Crops may fail, yields could be low, and investors may lose money.
But, we believe there will be a long-term benefit to helping Sol Food Farms today.
